Located in the attractive Melbourne Building in a converted 1921 Bank, Mezzzalira continues to satisfy its diners who flock here to enjoy exquisite Italian cuisine.
Award winning Mezzalira has loads of appeal and captures the essence of Italian style and flavour in an elegant, spacious setting in Canberra's business area.
The room is spacious with with earthy and ochre tones, sweeping banquette and linen clothed tables. With high ceilings and large doors opening on to the colonnade, the restaurant has loads of character.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
With the aroma of garlic and freshly baked bread coming from the kitchen and the wood-fired oven, you could well imagine you are having a meal in Italy.
Mezzalira presents an ever changing menu which will suit any fastidious diner, ranging from yummy foccacias to a wide of pizzas to classical main courses. As well there is a five course Tasting Menu available for $55.00 per person or with matching wines for $78.
For starters you can't go wrong ordering the pumpkin and leek tortellin with burnt sage butter or the hand made pasta with braised duck, mushrooms and spinach.
For mains there is a modern twist on classic dishes such as wood- roasted spatchcock with lemon, garlic and rosemary or wood-roast pork loin Roman style on braised lentils and cabbage. Recommended also is the prime rib which is graded to strict specifications and is 240 day grain fed, sourced from Emerald Hill in NSW.
Look out for the daily blackboard specials which are always enticing.
Mezzalira's wine list is pretty impressive, offering regional, Australian and Italian wines with many available by the glass. Corkage is $8.50 a bottle.
