Built by Governors John Hunter and Lachlan Macquarie between 1799 and 1818, Old Government House is the oldest surviving public building in Australia. The grounds feature a sandstone courtyard, old English hedges and a long, vine covered verandah.
Lachlan's serves as an ideal venue for weddings, corporate functions and school formals, with an elegant silk-lined Garden Marquee featuring polished timber floors and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Parramatta Park down to the river. The Marquee is fully air-conditioned in summer and comfortably warm in winter, seating up to 240 guests.
Old Government House, Parramatta has been restored by the National Trust and is one of Australia's most historic Houses.
Lachlan's, at Old Government House is a wonderful venue for wedding receptions. The house with its beautiful riverside location, is set within a large expanse of the Governor's Domain. It has sweeping views overlooking Parramatta and the surrounding parklands.
Behind Old Government House is the Garrison Building, now home to Lachlan's Restaurant. In summer, guests can dine on the old Garrison verandah under the grape vines and in winter, the four officers rooms offer a warm and intimate retreat.
Lachlan's a la carte menu offers international cuisine, with dishes showcasing a variety of cultural influences. The menu still maintains a strong Australian flavour. Chef's Choice Set Menus feature the best of the day's fresh produce and are recommended for groups of 10 to 30.
Lachlan's opens 7 days a week for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea from 10am until 4pm.
Dinner is served Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm. (Other nights available for bookings of 10 or more.)
