Located overlooking tranquil Glebe Park, the National Convention Centre is within easy walking distance of the CBD, many of the city’s fine restaurants and nightlife, and in close proximity to the national attractions. Catering for meetings of 10 to 2,500 delegates, the National Convention Centre offers 5 theatrettes, 7 flat floor rooms, 4 boardrooms, exhibition space of 2400 m2, which can house 120 standard booths, a ballroom for gala events, as well as various secretariat and support rooms

The National Convention Centre is now closed for stage two of the refurbishment, which includes such essential works as the establishment of a more flexible and accessible floorplan to better cater for conferences and events of more than 600 delegates. Improvements to technology and catering will set new benchmarks for conferencing in Australia, while enhanced security capabilities – such as the ability to lock down the Centre – will make the facility a first choice for many Government and corporate clients.

FUNCTIONS
Upon reopening in October 2007, the centre will still feature the vast 2400sqm Exhibition Hall accommodating up to 120 display booths, and its Royal Theatre that can cater for up to 2500 guests. A range of meeting rooms and spaces of various sizes, aspects and configurations will enhance the Centre’s versatility to service any event requirements, regardless of number of delegates. More lifts and an additional staircase are being added to improve movement through the centre, especially for people with disabilities.

Exhibition Hall: The 2400m2 Exhibition Hall can accommodation as many as 120 display booths, while the Royal Theatre can cater for up to 2500 guests. An additional range of rooms are available to suit any purpose, from smaller private meeting rooms to foyer areas for coffee breaks and cocktails. Each function area is versatile enough to service your event, regardless of the number of guests. Accessible by car and can hold up to 120 display booths. The Hall is completely pillar free and there are ample power outlets for exhibitors or production companies. It is suitable for trade displays, banquets and cocktail receptions.

Theatrettes: The Theatrettes are custom built with tiered seating to ensure excellent lines of sight. Each of the theatrettes has an in built projection screen and public address system. The Bradman Theatrette has a control room with additional AV capabilities.

Royal Theatre: The Royal Theatre is one of the showcase venues of the National Convention Centre. Purpose built for conferencing and entertainment, its excellent acoustics, lines of sight and décor will ensure that your delegates are comfortable for the duration of the event. The Royal Theatre has superb facilities including a large stage, numerous lectern points, backstage support rooms, fly mounted projection screen, rear access for speakers and performers and vehicular access through the Ground Floor foyer.

Ballroom :The Ballroom is ideal for meetings, dinner dances and cocktail functions. This room is completely pillarless, except for the pre function area at the rear of the room.

Gallery Rooms : The Gallery Rooms are situated on level one of the Centre and feature a pre function area that overlooks the Exhibition Hall. Three of these are separated by a removable soundproof wall and they have natural lighting and blackout curtains.

Foyer Assembly Areas: These assembly areas are suitable for delegate registration, morning and afternoon coffee breaks and cocktails.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Full catering is provided onsite by highly skilled chefs. For all other technical requirements or theming needs, the National Convention Centre will call upon its longstanding partnerships with the best suppliers in Canberra.

FACILITIES
Extensive audiovisual facilities, combined with expert onsite support, ensure you complete technical control over your event. To further ensure it runs as smoothly as possible, the National Convention Centre provides vehicle access to the main foyer and Exhibition Hall. Parking is in ample supply with 540 covered parking spaces at the Centre and another 480 spaces across the road.
